Я проверил то же самое, используя hibernate.properties вместо hibernate.cfg.xml by usin g configuration.addAnnotatedClass(User.class);
И он скомпилирован и выполнен без каких-либо исключений.
Хотелось бы взглянуть на этот метод: configuration.configure(); внутри вашего HibernateUtil –
