Я была такая же проблема, и выяснилось, что на некоторых устройствах/уровней API, когда используется намерение камеры, вызывается onDestroy(). В моем onDestroy я закрывал курсоры и базу данных, как обычно.

Вы можете исправить это, установив, что база данных является .open и курсором == null: onActivityResult или onResume, затем повторно открывать и обновлять курсор, если это необходимо.
